Putting on Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” while my daughter Jane finished the last of her Valentines for her kindergarten classmates — 21 in all. And she wrote the name of each classmate on each one, which I think is the most writing she has ever done in one sitting ever.
Making homemade pizza for movie night with my daughters.
First time bringing one of my daughters (Maisie, 3 years old) to the dentist. I have a lot of anxiety about going to the dentist, but Maisie was brave, fearless, and genuinely happy to be there. Inspiring.
Listening to my 6-year-old daughter Jane tell me everything she knows about Plants Vs. Zombies.
Making eggnog french toast for my wife.
Me and Maisie (my three-year-old daughter) making faces at each other through the rear-view mirror in the parking lot of Target.
The sprinkle of fresh-ground pepper on my portabello mushroom, asiago cheese, and sliced turkey breast omelet.
Taking my first sip of Harpoon’s Oktoberfest this season and experiencing a distinct taste and smell of autumn apples. Delicious.
Driving home and listening to the “Juno” soundtrack, with Jane (my 6-year-old daughter) in the back seat singing along to every song.
Watching my 6-year-old eating cereal just before bed, deliriously tired after a long day of birthday festivities. We had just finished watching “How to Train Your Dragon” and were talking about how cool it would be to ride a dragon. Then I explained to her that somewhere, in another universe, people DO ride dragons. But they don’t have cereal.
